Field Sales Solutions are proud to announce details of their latest business wide fundraising initiative the ‘UK to Uganda Challenge’! The ambitious companywide challenge involves making a 6,533 mile virtual journey – the distance from the UK to Uganda – by each employee contributing sponsored ‘miles’ towards the distance target. This October will see employees from across the head office and field teams working together to clock up the miles and raise funds in aid of The Cottman Foundation charity, who will use the funds raised to build a much needed clean water tap in a Ugandan community.

The UK to Uganda Challenge – Here’s the plan!

  • Between 1st October and 31st October Field Sales Solutions will be virtually travelling’ 6,533 miles from the UK to Uganda!
  • Our employees will be going the distance by walking / running / cycling /swimming or a mix of them all – it all counts towards the total!
  • We will gain sponsorship for our efforts and donate funds towards our chosen charity The Cottman Foundation
  • We will track the miles travelled and work together to reach new destinations!
  • We are determined to raise £4,000 and go the extra mile to make a positive difference at a time when people need it more than ever

Why this initiative?

It’s hard to comprehend but 1 in 10 people globally lack access to clean water.

Without water people in poverty stricken communities have no choice but to walk for hours, every day, simply to collect dirty water in the knowledge it will bring disease to them and their loved ones but without an alternate, they simply have no choice but to drink it. Below, is a child from one of those communities, Nakabale, collecting water from the only available water source:

As we wash our hands regularly, as we face the ‘new normal’ united, it seems unimaginable to comprehend this is the reality for so many. This is the water they wash in and this is the only water they have to drink.

As a business we want to help make a difference to this harsh reality and make a positive change to a community who needs it. In partnership with The Cottman Foundation we will look to generate the funds to build and install a new water source, which will serve a whole community at a time when they need it most. Below is a previous project The Cottman Foundation worked on, transforming the lives of a whole community, and saving lives by providing a safe water source. This is what we are now fundraising to achieve

Why now?

2020, it will certainly be a year we all remember.

A year which will inevitably mark a key milestone in history and one which we each will look back on with mixed emotions and all with our own experiences and outcomes. However, one thing 2020 has proved to us is the magnitude of things we each take for granted and the importance of basic necessities. We want to make a difference and to do our bit to help people access basic necessities, because this year has made us appreciate, more than ever, how vital they are.

We began this year by setting out an ambitious Environmental and Wellbeing Agenda, which will see us become a carbon neutral agency by 2025 along with a well-being agenda and support frame work in place for all our employees, goals which despite a turbulent year remain a key priority for us, but it’s fair to say the experience of ‘2020’ has made us want to do even more and we are determined to act now, go the extra mile and make a difference!

We are in this together!

Julian Cordy, Field Sales Solutions Group CEO, said “We always talk about partnership here at Field Sales Solutions, in fact it is a core company value, which resonates both in how we work with each other and our incredible clients but also in how we approach new initiatives. I’ve been blown away by how people from within our organisation have responded to this project, in fact the UK to Uganda Challenge concept itself was an idea from Becky Phillips who works in our head office.

Since we announced our partnership with The Cottman Foundation people from across the business have been asking how they could help, collaborating on ideas and offering donations, we have already achieved 45% of our total target – which is absolutely testament to the generosity and good will of the people who make up our business. Having the UK to Uganda Challenge set for next month has given us a clear goal and the motivation to not only give ourselves time to focus on health and well-being but also to do something together as a business and all for such an incredible cause. We are absolutely determined to fulfil on our ambition and make a difference to be Proud of, after all – we are in this together.”

We will continue to update you on our fundraising plans along with sharing more details around The Cottman Foundation and its incredible initiatives. For now, here’s to achieving something incredible together and making 2020 a year to remember and be proud of.

For us all at Field Sales Solutions, here’s to going the distance to make a positive difference!
